The Swedish government has decided that the Swedish National Debt Office (SNDO), as of 1 January 2008, will be the responsible government agency for the Swedish Deposit Guarantee and Investor Compensation Scheme. Thus, the SNDO will also replace the Swedish Deposit Guarantee Board (which will be liquidated by 1 January 2008) as a member of EFDI.

On the 26th and 27th of November, the EFDI celebrated its Annual Meeting in Istanbul kindly hosted by the TMSF. The first part of the meeting was a restricted session - only for the EFDI Members - where internal matters have been considered. It followed one day and half conference on “Actual Issues Impacting on Deposit Guarantee Schemes” where, in 5 different sessions, many relevant topics have been discussed. The Italian Deposit Protection Fund for Co-operative Banks and EFDI are organizing: “Banking Stability and Saving Protection: European DGS and Deposits Protection” which is scheduled on the 25th and 26th of October 2007, Rome The main purpose would be to deepen the role of the cooperative banks and the functioning of DGSs which cover deposits of cooperative banks in the international financial system, by valuating their activities through the speeches and studies of many international experts.
