The EFDI EU Subgroup will convene the 11th of September in Budapest in order to discuss the state of work of the 5 Working Groups, established in Berlin on the 19th of March 2007, on the new issues that the European Commission would like to deepen with the collaboration of the EFDI. The EFDI EU Member Schemes would be the Full participants of the meeting. The other EFDI DGS which are not in an EU country are more than welcomed to be present in the meeting as observers.

The EFDI Constituent Assembly will convene on the 22nd of June in Brussels in order to constitute the new EFDI as International Non Profit Association under the Belgian Law.

We would like to inform you that on 20th of April Prof. Małgorzata Zaleska has been appointed the new President of Management Board of the Bank Guarantee Fund (BFG – Poland). The BFG Council had decided to choose Ms Małgorza Zaleska, as she is a person who has a great scientific background. Ms Zaleska is a Professor of Economics, she is also an author of more then 150 scientific publications mainly focused on organization of structure and regulation of banking market supervision. Her works are also dedicated to deposit guarantee scheme together with alliance of bankrupcy risk management. Ms Zaleska will make a wonderful addition to the BFG, as she comes with plenthora of experience and knowledge. EFDI also warmly welcome Ms. Zaleska

As you know, since the 1st of January 2007 Slovenia has joined the European Monetary Union (EMU). Following our request, the Slovenian DGS sent us a very interesting article on the Euro changeover in Slovenia.
